"A public bath along the Bandai Azuma Skyline road in Takayu, Machiniwasaka, Fukushima City. The baths are constantly replenished ""kakenagashi"" style by the natural Takayu Onsen No. 26 Taki-no-Yu hot spring, an acidic sulfur calcium aluminum sulphate spring. The building is of Japanese-style architecture resembling a classic bathhouse with wood and stone motifs. It has separate men and women outdoor baths as well as rental outdoor baths (all baths are open-air)."

A hot spring bathhouse in Fukushima Prefecture reachable via a free shuttle bus operating out of Iizaka Onsen Station or an eight-minute drive from the Fukushima-Iizaka Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. The bathhouse is supplied by three different source springs called the Enju, Kagetsu, and Zabo. The bathhouse has a variety of baths, including an outdoor bath which massages the entire body using microbubbles and flowing water, a lie down bath, and a bath in which you can stand while being fully immersed. There's also a footbath, sauna, and restaurant with an open kitchen where you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet.

One of the better public onsen that I have been to. The deco outside the onsen was already very captivating. The onsen was clean and neat. If I’m not wrong, the water content is of the sulphuric type...

"One of the communal bathhouses in Iizaka Onsen, established in 1962. It is near Hachiman Jinja Shrine and Hachimanji Temple, where the Kenka Matsuri (""Argument Festival"") is held, and since the characters for ""Hachiman"" can also be read as ""Yahata,"" this is where the name of the bathhouse came from. During the Reitaisai grand festival in October, the whole area takes on a festive atmosphere."

"This bathhouse is built at a spring that is said to have been discovered in 1624. It was originally called Kami-yu, but after mountain ascetic began using its waters to heal the wounds they incurred from cutting themselves, it became known as Kiri-yu, from the word for ""cutting."" It is said to be effective against wounds. Its name can be written with either the character for ""cutting"" or the character for ""paulownia."" Its water is alkaline simple springs."

  • Sabako-yu
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Fukushima Fukushima-shi Iizakamachi Yuzawa 32
"A hot spring bathhouse long cherished as Japan's oldest wood construction communal bathhouse. Due to the deterioration of the earlier structure, it was reconstructed in its original form in 1993. When the 12th-century poet Saigyo Hoshi visited this hot spring, he wrote the poem, ""I kept looking beyond the mountains from Sabako while thinking of people I had met."" This is said to be the reason that the name ""Sabako-yu"" has stuck. Even now, it is considered the symbol of the Iizaka Hot Spring Area, and it receives many visitors, both from the surrounding area and from other parts of Japan. The water is from alkaline simple springs."

    Fukushima Fukushima-shi Tsuchiyuonsenmachi
These foot baths are located on the banks of the Arakawa River that weaves through the Tsuchiyu Onsen hot spring district. The baths are situated next to the Arakawa Ohashi Bridge, which is famous for its four massive kokeshi wooden dolls. They are fed with sharply-hot free-flowing hot spring water. A 1.8-meter-tall kokeshi wooden doll stands in the center of the bath.
  • Totsuna no Yu
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Fukushima Fukushima-shi Iizakamachi Shimokawara 36-7
A common bathing facility in Iizaka Onsen. It gets its name from its proximity to the Totsuna Bridge over the Surikamigawa River, which divides the Iizaka District in half. It is near Hanamizuzaka Station on the Fukushima Kotsu Line, so many customers come from places other than Iizaka-machi. The spring contains alkaline simple springs.
  • Daimon no Yu
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
    Fukushima Fukushima-shi Iizakamachi Daimon 1
"A common bathing facility created in 1962. It was named Daimon (""Great Gate""), because it is on the site where the main gate of Ootori Castle once stood. Located in a highland, its view of the northern part of Fukushima City makes it a popular destination. The water source is alkaline simple springs."
  • Senki no Yu
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
Fukushima Fukushima-shi Iizakamachi Yuno Atagomae 35
"These public baths were once called Shitayu, meaning ""lower baths,"" on account of their former location of the downstream of Kiriyu baths. Although it is not clear exactly what year they opened, the bath came to be commonly known as ""Senki no Yu"" because of their reputation for curing ""senki"" (colicky abdominal pain). The baths would eventually be moved to their current location in 1967. Today they are used not only by locals but also by many visitors from outside of Fukushima City."
  • Tennoji Anabarayu

Located in a beautiful natural setting, this public bath is said to be especially effective against skin disease. It features alkaline simple springs.
  • Dosen-no-yu
    Accommodations / Hot Spring
Fukushima Fukushima-shi Iizakamachi Yuno Dosen 16
"A communal bathhouse established in the Yuno district of Iizaka-machi in 1962. Perhaps because the district was close to the hot spring area, few people had baths in their own homes, so there were demands to build a bathhouse in a place that was more convenient for the local people. It opened in a neighborhood called ""Dosen,"" the source of the name ""Dosen-no-yu."" Given its location in a residential area, it is favored mostly by local residents. The waters are alkaline simple springs."

    Fukushima Nihonmatsu-shi Take Onsen 1-16
A hot spring district sprawling at the foot of 1,700 meter tall Mt. Adatara in Bandai-Asahi National Park. The area's acidic springs, a type found almost nowhere else in the country, are said to have been discovered by the shogun Sakanoue no Tamuramaro during his eastern expedition. The tasteless, odorless waters of the area's springs have a pH of 2.48 and are said to ease nerve pain, help heal motor paralysis, aid recovery from fatigue, and promote health. Long ago, during a time when there were no antibiotics, this ancient hot spring district provided an invaluable method of treatment for many diseases. In a Japan Hot Spring Association survey, this hot spring destination was selected as having the best natural beauty in the country and was also awarded the Fourth Superior Sight Seeing Area Cultivation Award by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association. The area also conducts fun health programs which combine hot spring bathing, cuisine, and exercise.
