In the middle, you find ""Gusuku Road Park."""
  • Gosoku no Kutsu Literary Trail

    Kumamoto Amakusa-shi Amakusamachi Shimoda
    A portion of the trail walked by Hiroshi (Tekkan) Yosano, Hakushu Kitahara , Banri Hirano, Isamu Yoshii, and Mokutaro Kinoshita in 1907. It's now administered as a promenade. The roughly 3.2-kilometer trail has three lookouts and two rest spots along the way. There are also plaques describing episodes from the Five Pairs of Shoes travel stories, as well as a bulletin board with the winning entries from the Gosoku no Kutsu National Tanka Contest. It takes about two hours to walk. Maintenance work is done on the trail about three times a year, but be careful as it gets slippery when it rains.

    A vehicle-only motorway running from Mihara, Tsumagoi Village, Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture to Nagakura, Karuizawa Town, Kitasaku County, Nagano Prefecture. It passes by the peaceful towns of Asama, Shirane, and Shiga and stretches along nearly 16km of the Joshin'etsu Kogen National Park at the foot of Mt. Asama. As you drive along you can enjoy the beautiful changing seasonal scenery from the fresh greens of spring, to the changing colors of autumn and the winter snowscapes.

    Kanagawa Ashigarashimo-gun Hakonemachi Hatajuku
    A spot along the Kanagawa Prefectural Route 732 Yumoto-Motohakone Line, one of the standard prefectural routes in Kanagawa and commonly called the Old Tokaido Highway. It was once the main highway connecting Odawara and Mishima. It now runs parallel to the Hakone-Shindo Highway. The Nanamagari section is famous as one of the difficult hurdles of the annual Hakone-Ekiden long distance relay race. As you head from the Miharashi-Chaya Tea-house, which is located close to Kowakidani Station, towards Hatajuku you'll pass along a steep sloping road full of zig-zagging switchbacks with an approximate 10% grade. Every spring sakura cherry trees bloom on either side of the road and racing through the verdant green scenery makes for a popular hill-climb course.

    A road that extends from the outskirts of the city of Susono toward Mt. Fuji, affording views of the massive mountain through one's car windows. Fields of flowers along the road display an abundance of rapeseed flowers and cherry blossoms in the spring, hydrangeas in the summer, and cosmos flowers in the fall. The blossoming plants are there thanks to volunteers from the city of Susono, who planted them and still tend them, and various events are held during each blooming season. This means that visitors can enjoy not only the drive but also the changing face of Mt. Fuji and the variety of flowers throughout the four seasons.

    This scenic road leads from Mt. Satsuki to the area of Minoh Dam and Todoromi in Minoh City. From Mt. Satsuki, visitors can take in a fantastic nightscape and, from the Shubodai observatory, the beautiful Big Harp (Shin-Inagawa Bridge). The road is open to traffic from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The road is closed during events such as the local cherry blossom festival and fireworks festival.

    "This 150-meter tunnel connects the Okago and Kashitate areas. There is an observation deck and parking lot near the exit on the Okago side. The Osaka Tunnel observation deck is one of the best views on the island. It is the representative sight-seeing spot of Hachijojima Island. From it, you can see the ocean together with Mt. Hachijofuji, Hachijokojima Island and more. Looking below, there is the peak of Mt. Mihara, which runs alongside the Yokoma coast. The sunset that dyes its hills red is ""Osaka's Sunset,"" a sight boasting such beauty that was written about in the Hachijo Hakkei. It is a viewing spot where many cars stop at dusk but also on mornings with clear weather."

    Located about 10 minutes from the Nishidan Mihara IC on the Kobe-Awaji Naruto Expressway via Prefectural Route 126, this 1.5-kilometer-long promenade in Keino Matsubara in the southwestern part of Awaji Island is said to be a famous place for marriage proposals where the blue sea, white sand, green pine trees and the setting sun create a romantic atmosphere. On February 14, a "Proposal Tile Contest" is held every year, in which visitors can make a proposal using tiles made in the previous year.

    This driving course stretches for about eight kilometers, winding from the Tateyama Mountain Range to the Noto Peninsula, across the side and peak of Futagami Yama National Park. Mt. Futagami was loved by Man-yo poet Otomo no Yakamochi, and was also long revered as a sacred mountain. There are a number of sites along the road, including Moriyama Castle ruins, Heiwa Kannon Statue, a Stupa, Otomo no Iemochi Statue, the Heiwa no Kane peace bell, Man-yo Botanical Garden, and Futagamiyama Campground.
