A lush forest occupies the inner garden area; beloved as a rare green space in the heart of Tokyo, highlights include the magnificent Honden front shrine; wooden torii gate which is the largest in Japan; the Gyoen garden, which requires a small fee to enter but which is beautiful year-round; and the Kiyomasa Well (located in the Gyoen garden), from which samurai lord Kato Kiyomasa personally drew water. The outer garden is a Japanese-style garden which preserves how the area looked when it was still largely wilderness; highlights include a broadleaf tree-enshrouded walking path; South Pond on which bloom lotuses; and some 1,500 Japanese iris plants spanning 150 varieties which Emperor Meiji had planted for Empress Shoken - the best time to see the iri…

The park uses a site that was on the grounds of Zojoji Temple. “Shiba Park” is a general term to collectively describe the park together with the adjoining Minato City’s Shiba Park. There are many trees with a long history scattered through the garden, and there are also facilities such as a baseball stadium, tennis courts and a children’s playground. In the park, there is an open space with a vast lawn, a location which commands a view of Tokyo Tower, a dating spot and a spot which is known as a location for film shoots.

- (Provided by service)This tourist railway uses the old JR Sanin Line which was left unused after a new line was built for the JR trains. It travels at an average speed of around 25km per hour. The 7.3 km trip passes through the picturesque Hozugawa River valley and takes approximately 25 minutes. The train slows for the especially beautiful spots allowing the passengers to take their time enjoying the view. The train interior is decorated in a colorful art deco style with wood seats and uncovered lightbulbs, giving it a retro feel. If you board the windowless open carriage The Rich you can feel the wind, light, and sounds dance across your skin. During the cold seasons a coal burning stove is installed allowing you to enjoy your trip in comfort.

- (Provided by service)A Buddhist temple famous for its five tier pagoda called the Yasakano-to located midway between Yasaka Shrine and the Kiyomizu-dera Temple. There are various theories about the origins of the Hokanji Temple, but it is generally believed to have been founded in the Asuka period (593–710) as the guardian temple of the Yasaka clan. The 46 meter tall five tier pagoda is a reconstruction built in 1440 by Ashikaga Yoshinori and is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. Visitors can go inside the pagoda to view a dais on which are placed figures of Mahavairocana, Akshobhya, Ratnasambhava, Amitabha, and amoghasiddhi—the Five Perfected Ones; as well as the interior structure of the pagoda and the great central pillar supporting it.

- (Provided by service)A famous Buddhist temple located in Higashiyama Ward in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. The temple is said to have been started when the priest Enchin enshrined a thousand-armed statue of Kannon above the Otowa Waterfall in 778. The main temple nave enshrines a standing figure of an eleven-faced Kannon and is built in the elegant Shinden-zukuri style. The Kiyomizu Stage jutting out over the Cliffside offers a sweeping view of the streets of Kyoto and blooming cherry trees, verdant plant life, or autumn foliage depending on the season, making it a popular photo spot. The three channeled Otowa Waterfall is said to provide benefits such as long life and people line up to drink its waters. Bustling with students on a school excursion as well as tourists both domestic and international, the Kiyomizu-dera Temple is one of Kyoto’s most popular tourist sites.

The castle was built on a magnificent scale, but was destroyed just 17 years later after the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the destruction of the Toyotomi clan in the Siege of Osaka in 1615. Thereafter, the castle was rebuilt by the Tokugawa shogunate under the command of Todo Takatora but was once again lost due to a fire caused by a lightning strike. The current castle tower is the third generation to stand here and was completed in 1931 through donations from local citizens. The interior of the castle is a history museum and visitors can enjoy information about the history of Osaka Castle and dioramas. The castle was registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 1997.
