This historic Japanese sweet shop was founded in Osaka in 1624. It's approximately five minutes on foot from Daimonzaka's Married Cedars on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route. In the quest for the best water for making their sweets, they opened this store in Katsuura to use spring water from Mt. Nachi. Visitors can observe their facility's crafting process with its dedication to flavor and safety. They use Okinawa made sugar for an array of items like ice cream, karinto manju treats, and their original kuro-ame sweets that are meant to be reminiscent of Kishu binchotan charcoal. Meals that feature local marine produce like their raw tuna-topped rice bowls are available too.

This Japanese confectionery store is located down the road from the entrance of Tomyo-ji Temple, in a residential area of Taiji Town. Their specialty is Tetsumen-mochi. About the origin of this famous rice cake, itis said that a monk once visited this place looking for an inn, while on the pilgrimage to Kumano. He could not find the inn, but an old man of the town, called Kamehachi, let the monk stay at his home, and by way of thanks, the monk taught the old man how to make the special mochi (rice cake). The name of the Tetsumen-mochi is derived from the name the monk gave when asked who he was. It is made by wrapping Azuki beans from Tokachi in a layer of rice flour. It is also sold as a set, and is recommended for souvenirs and gifts.

"This Japanese confectionery store can be found by following Prefectural Route 238 from the JR Kii-Katsuura Station, and taking a left at the intersection one turn before the dead end. It has a main store in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture, and six stores in the southeastern part of the prefecture. It sells Annoshi and Mikasa, which are Wakayama Prefecture's most highly coveted confections on the Kumano Pilgrimage, and customers can request to purchase any number of confections. For a limited time only, the store also sells unique products such as the ""Little Rumor Potato"" Japanese-style sweets, which have a slight cinnamon fragrance, while preserving tradition.,."
