A restaurant and bar located right in front of Kii-Katsuura Station. Inside this fashionable restaurant where jazz plays over the stereo, you can enjoy fresh, Japanese-based seafood cuisine prepared with great effort by the master chef. The restaurant takes great pride in its dishes made with fresh local seafood and vegetables; the Katsuura fresh tuna in particular is bodai’s signature item. The fresh chu-toro medium fatty tuna cutlet is particularly popular, a delicate balance of the textures of the crisp outer breading and the inner semi-rare meat. The restaurant also stocks a full alcohol menu including local sakes, shochu, and wine. The lunch seafood rice bowl and sets are also well-reviewed.

A shaved ice specialty shop located in Shingu, Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture which is famous not just among local children but also fans around the country. Old-fashioned in appearance with tables and chairs set up out front, an air of the bygone Showa era emanates from the shop. The shop uses water from a pure Wakayama stream, selected as one of the 100 most famous in Japan in the Heisei period, which is slowly frozen over several days to create ice equal to any natural ice; this is then thinly shaved to create a delicate, icy treat. The most popular item on the menu is the matcha milk kintoki, made with matcha green tea and sweet adzuki beans; visitors love the heaping helping of syrup and the light sweetness of the beans.

wonderful ice shop.. the texture is so heavenly that it just melts in your mouth.. you hardly felt the ice! we had yuzu and matcha powder red bean.. one of my friend even complain we ate his portion!

This tuna restaurant is a three-minute walk from Kii-Katsuura Station. Its head chef was the former head chef from a famous French restaurant. They are known for their original menu options that bring together western and Japanese techniques and show off the specialty ingredients of the region including freshly caught tuna and Kumano beef. Perhaps most popular is their Tuna Variety Meal which includes all sorts of prepared tuna dishes including tuna cutlet and stewed tuna. Along with western dishes including tuna spaghetti and tuna tomato, classic stews such as their standard tuna rice bowl are also popular.

Great local restaurant, nothing fancy, but if all the locals are eating here, it means it is good. The sashimi tuna was so good. No bargains, you get what you pay for, but it it really good. They...

This dining facility is about a three-minute walk through the arcade from Kii-Katsuura Station, and it’s well-known for its local tuna dishes. The snug interior features only counter seats and is often filled with tourists as well as locals. The fresh tuna is bought directly from fishermen and has a viscous texture with a rich taste. The thick cuts of tuna sashimi are especially popular. There are also a la carte dishes and sets, and the place is busy in the afternoon and evening.

"This seafood restaurant is about three minutes on foot from JR Kii-Katsuura Station. They offer a menu full of locally harvested whale and tuna dishes including their specialty maguro-don rice bowl, as well as less common yet popular fare like Korean yukhoe, spring rolls, and steamed Chinese dumplings. Their ""Recommended Set"" and ""Tuna Kaiseki Banquet Course"" showcase delectable tuna, and their ""Yokubari Teishoku Set"" is limited to 10 meals a day. If you prefer meat, they also serve dishes featuring Kumano beef. Their hot pots come recommended in winter."

They feature succulent local seafood like fresh maguro tuna sashimi and the delicacy known as shibiwata (maguro stomach). They also serve Western fare like their own pizzas.

This restaurant featuring local cuisine first opened in 1962. They offer fare such as oden hot pots, fried pork skewers, and mehari-zushi, a local Nanki-Shingu favorite. These rice balls wrapped in mustard leaves get their name from being so large that people's eyes go wide when they open their mouths to eat them. As they hold together well, they're known as one of Japan's favorite packed lunches. The shop always makes them fresh to order so customers can enjoy them right away at the peak of flavor. The shop moved to its current location in August 2018. The building's unique, circular shape will catch your attention.

A Japanese café located right in front of the approach to Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine. The small café incorporates naturally growing trees into its exterior design, giving it a soft, subdued atmosphere. The café’s signature meal is its Iwashimizu pork loin shabushabu set meal. Rose on spring water deep in the mountains, Iwashimizu pork loin is said to have twice the amount of umami flavor-producing substances as conventional pork. The café also offers popular local dishes like meharisushi rice balls wrapped in pickled mustard greens and aosa soba noodles made with sea lettuce nori and Wakayama plums. For coffee, the café uses aromatic and sweet-smelling top class UCC premium special beans. In addition, the café offers an abundant variety of healthy items like tofu cake and bitter melon juice.

This historic Japanese sweet shop was founded in Osaka in 1624. It's approximately five minutes on foot from Daimonzaka's Married Cedars on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route. In the quest for the best water for making their sweets, they opened this store in Katsuura to use spring water from Mt. Nachi. Visitors can observe their facility's crafting process with its dedication to flavor and safety. They use Okinawa made sugar for an array of items like ice cream, karinto manju treats, and their original kuro-ame sweets that are meant to be reminiscent of Kishu binchotan charcoal. Meals that feature local marine produce like their raw tuna-topped rice bowls are available too.

This Japanese confectionery store is located down the road from the entrance of Tomyo-ji Temple, in a residential area of Taiji Town. Their specialty is Tetsumen-mochi. About the origin of this famous rice cake, itis said that a monk once visited this place looking for an inn, while on the pilgrimage to Kumano. He could not find the inn, but an old man of the town, called Kamehachi, let the monk stay at his home, and by way of thanks, the monk taught the old man how to make the special mochi (rice cake). The name of the Tetsumen-mochi is derived from the name the monk gave when asked who he was. It is made by wrapping Azuki beans from Tokachi in a layer of rice flour. It is also sold as a set, and is recommended for souvenirs and gifts.
