- This pudding shop is situated on Narayama-odori Street in Narazaka-cho, Nara City. The shop's signature Mahoroba Daibutsu Pudding is made with simple ingredients: an abundance of high-quality fresh cream, milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla beans. In addition to standard custard flavor, the shop also sells a variety of other flavors, including Yamato tea, a local Nara specialty product; cheesecake; chocolate; and Harushika, a local Nara sake. Other products include the Shiroi Shika no Purin pudding, and the Daibutsu-sama no Hohoemi Cookie.

可愛いお店で、ひっきりなしにお客様がいらっしゃいます。 プリンの森にふさわしく、楽しい仕掛けが沢山あるお店ですが、店内は撮影禁止です。 奈良なので大仏がかわいいイラストの大仏プリンは、お土産に良さそうですが、味は普通。接客はあまり良くありません。

- This is a baumkuchen specialty shop along Sanjyo-dori Street around a four-minute walk from Nara Station. Their specialty is Deer Antler Baumkuchen baked based on the shape of Nara Park deer antlers, made with pure honey and fresh eggs produced in Nara that are less than 36 hours old. In addition they sell baumkuchen using famous Nara products including Asuka ruby strawberries, Yamato tea, and black rice.

- Barmans Chocolate is chocolate for adults, made by an experienced chocolatier and former bartender, who combines carefully selected Western liquors with cacao. The company's brick-and-mortar store is the Mochiidono Workshop in the city of Nara. In addition to vintage Armagnac (aged 40 years) chocolate, the shop also sells ice cream, the shop sells unbelievably good ganache made with a chocolatier's expert knowhow and techniques. Packages containing nine varieties of Barmans Chocolate, one piece each, are a popular souvenir.

以前お土産でこちらのチョコレートを貰い、美味しかったので訪問しました。 商店街の中にあるビル二階にあり、少しお店は分かりにくいです。 工房でチョコレートを作ってるとのことで、入店するとベルがなり店員さんが出て来てくれます。 チョコレートは美味しいのでオススメです。

The shop makes and sells Western-style confections which are a marriage of French confectionary techniques and aesthetics, and the Japanese soul of Nara. Here you can enjoy petit gateau mini cakes made with figs, grapes, and other seasonal ingredients shipped direct from farms in Nara Prefecture. The shop is adjoined by its sister establishment, the Cafe la Pause Mori, which serves French pancakes.

Nara Areas
With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
