    "29 sculptures are installed along a stretch of the Mido-suji Street in Chuo Ward, Osaka City from to the vicinity of Shinsaibashi Station which is known as the Mido-suji Sculpture Street. Visitors can view sculptures of people on both sides of the street created by Japanese and international artists, including Auguste Rodin's ""Eve,"" and Kotaro Takamura's ""Michinoku."""

  • Deathplace of Basho Matsuo

    This historic site is situated on Mido-suji Street in 3-Chome Kyutaro-machi, Chuo Ward, Osaka City. It is believed to be the location of the detached room at the residence of Hanaya Niemon where the great haiku poet Matsuo Basho died at the age of 51 in 1694 after collapsing from illness while staying in Osaka. A monument inscribed with Basho's last poem composed just before his death stands on the grounds of the Minamimido temple on the opposite side of the street.

The company rents bicycles in five locations in Osaka City, and customers rave that its bicycles are convenient for sightseeing and leisure purposes as well as for people on business trips. The company primarily offers urban mini bicycles in five cute colors, as well as other bicycles for a variety of uses. The main shop can also repair flat tires on-site or come pick up your bike if it's within 10 minutes of the shop. In addition, the shop offers a loaner service.

  • Sanjugo Naoki Museum

    This museum is dedicated to Sanjugo Naoki, an author born in Osaka City's Andoji-machi who was active from the end of the Taisho through the early Showa periods and whose name is still memorialized by the prestigious Naoki Prize for literature. Various items connected to the author are on display in chronological order inside. A recreation of the author's study is also on display on a central raised platform covered with tatami mats along with shelves holding his works which can be read by visitors.

    谷町九丁目からほど近いところにある歴史ある神社です。神社としても立派な神社ですが、古典落語の高津の富などの舞台として知られており、現在でも公演が行われる高津の富亭が境内にありますし、数々の碑が文化の地としての名残を感じさせました。

    本町近くの御堂筋の西側に面して建っている浄土真宗本願寺派のお寺です。こちらの建物と真宗大谷派難波別院である南御堂を結ぶ参道を御堂筋と呼んだそうで、名前の由来にもなっています。さすがにスケールが大きく、すべてが堂々とした感じでした。

    北浜でも淀屋橋でも同じくらいの距離の中間地点にあります。昭和初期に建てられたゴシック様式の尖塔窓を持つ教会です。自主的に設立された日本初の自給教会だそう。日曜日でミアをやっている雰囲気だったので外観だけの見学でしたが、タイミングがあえば中も見たいですね。

    境内にあるビルの３階にあり、入場無料の資料館です。置き薬や薬種業者の使っていた道具の展示など興味深いものばかりです。小さな資料館ですが、展示内容は充実していますので立ち寄ることをお勧めします。

    たまたま目の前を通り掛かって参拝しました。朱塗りの山門が特徴的な高野山真言宗寺院となっており、その山門には「摂津國八十八ヶ所 第壱番霊場」と掲げられていました。猶、繁華街に近い所為もあってか常に参拝者が見られました。

    式内社、旧府社で、ご祭神は、用明天皇、穴穂部間人皇后、聖徳太子とのことです。元四天王寺として知られています。式内社とのことですが延喜式神名帳には載っていません、不思議なことに。森ノ宮駅の駅前にあります。現在の境内はコンパクトなサイズです。

    It is an old church, which is surrounded by buildings. There is nothing touristic, but if you are interested in architecture of Western houses in Japan, you can maybe take a look.

    大阪市中央区上本町にある誓願寺です。井原西鶴は和歌山県出身で「好色一代男」や「好色一代女」で知られる浮世草子の作者で大坂にゆかりがある人物です。 その墓がここ誓願寺にあります。 ちなみに大阪には井原西鶴の碑が各所にあり、生國魂神社境内には井原西鶴の像が、大阪商工会議所西側には文学碑「浮世の月 見過ごしにけり 末二年」があります。
