This cape has a walking trail that goes through a warm climate deciduous forest made up primarily of ubame oaks, which are designated Natural Monuments. 800 meters long, it is also known as the “Romance Road of Love.” The trail leads to the Hazu Cape Observatory overlooking Atsumi Peninsula, as well as Hazu-jinja Shrine. Hazumisaki Park, to the south of the shrine, contains a stone monument inscribed with the SKE48 hit song, Hazumisaki.

The sales corner is filled with some 40 different products, and you can also try some of them for free. The rest corner serves free tea and coffee. You can also buy squid fried in wine here. In the rest corner, there’s an area where you can try frying your own ebi senbei. The adjoining museum presents the history of ebi senbei.

After paying an entry fee, visitors are given a net bag which they are allowed to fill with shellfish and take home (the bag holds around one kilogram of shellfish). An extra fee must be paid to take home anything beyond this.

    普段なかなか行けないのですが、イベントがあるとすごい人が押し寄せます。 東海市内の学校でチラシが配られるのでなおさらです。 大勢の人を捌けないのは仕方ないかと思いますが、シャトルバスに乗った人が着いたころには人気イベントのチケットが取れなかったり、定時前に車で着いた人も、既にチケットが配られていたため見ることができなかったりと、残念な面があります。

Aichi Areas


Aichi is a prefecture of great natural beauty with Nagoya city at its heart, a busy hub home to a labyrinth of underground shops and the 17th-century Nagoya Castle. Castles are easy to find in this history-rich prefecture, but the highlight for history buffs has to be the Museum Meiji-mura, where preserved buildings from the turn of the 20th century are displayed in all their grandeur in an outdoor museum.
