A cafe adjoining the longstanding Levain Shinshu Ueda bakery on Yanagimachi Historic Street. Operating out of a remodeled 150 year old Japanese home, the cafe has a relaxing atmosphere and a space on the first floor in the back where customers can enjoy breads made with natural yeast. The cafe serves soups made with beans and seasonal ingredients, breads baked by Levain made with natural yeast and Nagano spring water. The cafe also offers a full array of open faced sandwich combos; coffee, black tea, juices, and other drinks; and other dishes made with bread. The cafe is a great place to relax.

ドライブ旅行の帰路に、上田の歴史的な建物通りに有るお店へ。富ヶ谷店と違い昼過ぎでもパンが豊富。ごまチーズやクロワッサン、食パン食べ比べセットなど4店購入で1500円程とちょっと高めだがその価値ありの美味しさ 2階にはご主人が座っていた

軽井沢から佐久方面に出る道すがらに店があって利用しましたが、全く予想もしていませんでしたが、とても美味しかったです。今度利用する事がもしあれば屋外でランチをしてみたい雰囲気があります。

妻が中毒に近く、軽井沢に行くたびに寄ります。駐車場のキャパは2台だけでテーブル席が一つとカウンター数名分という規模ですが、空いていれば我が家の大型犬（50キロ）も店内OKで、超高級車で来たゴールデンレトリバーにも会いました。味オンチ夫婦の感想ですが、どれでも美味しいので遅めの時間に行って、選択肢の減ったケーキを試すのも逆に楽しみです。

This is a café terrace located within the long-established Mampei Hotel operating from 1894 in Karuizawa Town, Kitasaku County, Nagano Prefecture. It is famous for being used by John Lennon and his family. The sweets such as traditional apple pie, tarts and French toast are quite popular. The royal milk tea loved by John Lennon is also popular and guests can enjoy an elegant tea time while taking in the refreshing scenery of this retreat from the summer heat. Pets are permitted as long as they are on the wood deck which is open during specific seasons.

平日の2時半ごろにお邪魔しました。30分ぐらい待ってソファ席に案内されました。テラスも良いですが、少し陽が入るので、テラスでなくても軽井沢の緑、風を楽しむことができます。ケーキとアイスティーを注文。見た目も味も間違えないです。時間が止まってほしいと思えるひとときです。

Originally a hall built by an American woman named Eloise for young people seeking to become musicians, the building was designed by architect Junzo Yoshimura. Today, the facility has been renovated into a share house and first floor café. The most popular item on the café’s menu is the French toast, made with long tin bread prepared according to a recipe passed down by missionaries. The café’s take on the famous curry of the former Mikasa Hotel in Karuizawa is also popular. This spot has even been featured on television.
