A cafe adjoining the longstanding Levain Shinshu Ueda bakery on Yanagimachi Historic Street. Operating out of a remodeled 150 year old Japanese home, the cafe has a relaxing atmosphere and a space on the first floor in the back where customers can enjoy breads made with natural yeast. The cafe serves soups made with beans and seasonal ingredients, breads baked by Levain made with natural yeast and Nagano spring water. The cafe also offers a full array of open faced sandwich combos; coffee, black tea, juices, and other drinks; and other dishes made with bread. The cafe is a great place to relax.

ドライブ旅行の帰路に、上田の歴史的な建物通りに有るお店へ。富ヶ谷店と違い昼過ぎでもパンが豊富。ごまチーズやクロワッサン、食パン食べ比べセットなど4店購入で1500円程とちょっと高めだがその価値ありの美味しさ 2階にはご主人が座っていた

奥まった商店街にも同じ名前の店舗がありますが、メニューも価格設定も同じで、かなり割高感の強いお店です。赤葡萄と白葡萄で異なるグレープジュースを出しているあたりは面白いですが、基本的に普通のケーキでもすごく高い価格になっていたりするので、人にお勧めはあまりできないです。

田崎廣助氏の作品が展示されている美術館。若い頃の留学先のパリ、その後は日本の山がモチーフ。亡くなられた後の開館になってしまったそうだが、中庭を囲むようにぐるっと回れる建物も素晴らしい。

妻が中毒に近く、軽井沢に行くたびに寄ります。駐車場のキャパは2台だけでテーブル席が一つとカウンター数名分という規模ですが、空いていれば我が家の大型犬（50キロ）も店内OKで、超高級車で来たゴールデンレトリバーにも会いました。味オンチ夫婦の感想ですが、どれでも美味しいので遅めの時間に行って、選択肢の減ったケーキを試すのも逆に楽しみです。

This is a café terrace located within the long-established Mampei Hotel operating from 1894 in Karuizawa Town, Kitasaku County, Nagano Prefecture. 平日の2時半ごろにお邪魔しました。30分ぐらい待ってソファ席に案内されました。テラスも良いですが、少し陽が入るので、テラスでなくても軽井沢の緑、風を楽しむことができます。ケーキとアイスティーを注文。見た目も味も間違えないです。時間が止まってほしいと思えるひとときです。
