Take the Gunma Bus from Ikaho Bus Terminal and get off at the “Ropeway-mae” stop. Mt. Haruna, one of the “Three Mountains of Jomo” together with Mt. Akagi and Mt. Myogi, is a popular sightseeing destination. Visitors can board the ropeway at Harunakogen Station. The station is located 1,097 meters above sea level, and the lift, taking a little more than three minutes, brings riders to the 1,391 meter high top of the mountain. As riders approach the summit, the scenery changes, and you can enjoy looking down on Lake Haruna as you travel through the skies; the scenic outlook at Haruna Fujisansancho Station offers a sweeping panorama of the area.

Gunma Areas

Gunma prefecture is synonymous with onsen. Natural hot spring water sources throughout the prefecture have given rise to a series of small onsen towns, each set among luscious mountains. At Kusatsu, Ikaho, and Minakami, traditional indoor and outdoor bathing experiences are served hand in hand with irresistible onsen-themed food, including steam-cooked eggs and custard pudding.
