"A memorial museum dedicated to Ogawa Usen located not far from the last stop on the Kanto Railway Bus bound for the Mikazukibashi Shogai Gakushu Center. Usen was a painter and poet who was active from the Meiji to the Showa periods. Usen painted the farmers who lived and worked around him. He also frequently depicted kappa, a mythical water-dwelling creature, and was known as ""Kappa no Usen."" The museum is housed in the home and studio Usen built for himself in his later years and displays reproductions of his paintings as well as items the artist used as part of everyday life. A stone memorial depicting a kappa also stands nearby."

Ibaraki Areas

Just a stone’s throw from Tokyo, Ibaraki is a coastal prefecture that has mastered juxtapositions, where old shrines meet new scientific discoveries and traditional gardens are frequented by the inventors of some of the newest technology. Head to Mito City's Kairakuen - one of Japan's Three Great Gardens - in spring to experience the cellestial blooming of fantastic cherry blossoms at the annual sakura festival.
