    Fukushima Nishishikarawa-gun Nishigomura Mabune
    This highland is found at the northeast end of Nikko National Park. Surrounded by virgin forest of Japanese beech and Mongolian oak, it hosts the famous Kashi Hot Spring, and sprawling farms like on the plains of Hokkaido. The area along the Abukuma River is outfitted with walking trails, allowing you to stroll along the highland surrounded by the singing of the waters. The virgin forest is found at around 850 meters above sea level, and it has about 3,000 meters of training courses that are used by students and professionals for highland training.

    This shop serves Shirakawa soba, considered one of Japan's four major styles along with Shinshu, Izumo, and Morioka. The shop grows its own buckwheat native to the Oihara district, a nature-embraced highland about 500 meters above sea level, which it then grinds itself for freshly grind, freshly making, and freshly boiling soba. The shop faces the Abukuma River, and is perfect for spending some quiet rural moments as you enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. They are popular for their focus on additive-free, aromatic soba with natural sweetness. Inside, they also sell their select soba flour and fresh soba noodle (by reservation), as well as buckwheat chaff pillows.

    The temple is the family temple of the Tamura family, who ruled the region during the Warring States period (1467-1568). The temple's grounds are also home to a number of cultural assets, including the "Code of Takakien Tamura" and the "Code of Kiyoaki Tamura," which were handed down in the past to govern the area evenly.

    A tea house located along the Miharu Highway which ran from Miharu Town to Koriyama City. The restaurant sports a good old-fashioned Japanese household feel and offers soba noodles, udon noodles, set meals, and more. Their Horoku-yaki is a traditional Miharu specialty made by filling a triangle shaped bit of fried tofu with green onion and seasonal vegetables and then grilling it. This simple yet nostalgic meal pairs perfectly with their Yuzu citrus miso dressing. Popular menu options include their Deko Yashiki Set Meal consisting of Horoku-Yaki, small side dishes, and grated yam, and their Takizakura Set Meal which comes with seasonal tempura, small side dishes, and mountain udo (edible wild plant).

    A museum located in the Omachi district in the center of Miharu Town. The museum occupies two former storehouses and displays traditional local dolls from throughout the Tohoku region with a focus on Miharu Dolls. The storehouses are traditional white walled buildings said to have been built 130 years ago. Around the Rakko Collection, started by the late Nakai Atsushi who was a student at Tohoku University in the early Showa period, you can see clay dolls and Miharu Dolls from the Tohoku region, as well as folk toys from various regions. Their collection includes a number of must-sees, such as staircase cabinets, fusuma paintings, and calligraphy of poem on the Eight Immortals of the Wine Cup.

    A long-standing Japanese confectioner said to have been founded during the mid-Meiji period. They make and sell seasonal sweets and treats for various auspicious events, including Miharu's specialty Otari-Manju . During the period of upheaval, the shop was established next to the Miharu horse market and the Otari-Manju gained popularity amongst the horse dealers that visited the city. It comes in two varieties with both smooth and coarse red bean paste. The thin-skinned manju made with local miso and soy sauce is a classic Miharu souvenir that can't be had anywhere else. Also popular are their authentic yokan jelly made with local adzuki beans and their Mame-Daifuku made with salted boiled red peas.

    A restaurant attached to the Hachimonjiya kappo-ryokan(traditional inn offering Japanese-style cuisine). Located just 300-meters from the Miharu Town Office they serve a variety of traditional cuisine including the well-known fried tofu Horoku-yaki and Miharu somen noodles. Miharu's famous Horoku-yaki is triangle shaped fried tofu stuffed with green onion and served with a seasonal sweet miso coating. Their Local Specialty Set Meal, Meibutsu-gozen, comes with minced meat cutlets with Miharu's specialty green peppers, seasonal side dishes, stewed dishes, and fresh Yuba tofu skin giving you a chance to try all of Miharu's specialties in one sitting. In the evening they offer a la carte service including zarudofu (fresh tofu served on bamboo basket), stewed herring, and assorted sashimi plates.

    桜の季節の週末にうかがいました。地元の名物ほうろく焼きや三春そうめんをわりとてごろにいただけます。たくさんのお客さんでかなり待ちました。はじめてうかがったので他の季節は分かりませんが時間に余裕をもって行かれるといいかと思います。

    A Japanese and western-style confectioner located along National Route 288 about a five-minute drive from Miharu Station. At this shop in the center of Miharu you'll find sweets one by one made with care and devotion. One of their popular treats is their adorable Sakura Sable shortbread cookie which both looks like a cherry blossom flower and has salted cherry blossoms included in the batter. You can buy just one or a bundle and they make for the perfect Miharu souvenir. Other popular treats include their Miharu Takizakura, a cherry blossom shaped baked treat with a coarse red bean paste inside, and their Miharu Pie, a crispy pie filled with white beans paste, walnuts, and raisins.

    Part of a project to revitalize the town center by renovating three old warehouses in the Nakamachi area of Miharu Town. It now serves as a tourist information center for Miharu Town as well as a souvenir shop that offers a wide arrangement of goods from traditional handicrafts to local foodstuffs. They also sell the local sake Miharu-Goma including Miharu-Goma Black Label which is only available in the Miharu region.

    The Rakans (disciple of the Buddha) are enshrined here next to the Kannon Hall on the grounds of Todosan Manpukuji Temple. The enshrinement started in 1985 and there are now over 470 different Rakan statues with a variety of expressions and individual characteristics. Amongst them you'll find the Roku-Hachi-Kyu Rakan dedicated to Ei Rokusuke, Nakamura Hachidai, and Sakamoto Kyu who were known for the hit song Sukiyaki.

    This facility opened when a large number of rhinoceros beetle larva were discovered in the leaf mold that was to be used for tabaco leaf fertilizer in Tamura City (formerly Tokiwa Town) which flourished as a producing area for tabaco leaf. The resident staff will give careful explanations on how to care for the insects and their ecology as well as offer time to allow you to interact with their insects on display and living rhinoceros beetles.

    A four-meter tall talisman deity that protect you from evil. It carries a naginata (pole sword) and a sword, blocking the way with its both arms outstretched. The face takes the appearance of a demon with a glare to prevent evil from entering from the outside. There are three in different locations, at Yakata, Hounokibashi, and Horikoshi, each with a different expression. Their clothes are changed by the preservation society every April.

    This church originally built in 1882 is currently used as a meeting place. The current building was constructed in 1915. The church is the fifth-oldest surviving western-style building in Japan. It. The church building, which has an air reminiscent of the Byzantine style, as well as the Russian icons inside it, are Important Cultural Properties of Fukushima Prefecture. Five of the church's 48 icons were painted by the painter Yamashita Rin.
