    This museum is located in Kuji City, Iwate Prefecture. Among the amber used in jewelry, this is where you can see amber from Kuji, which has the world's oldest deposits. There are exhibits that show the production of amber and artworks using it. With prior reservations, you can also participate in events where you can experience digging amber.

    様々な種類の琥珀や琥珀のモザイク画等が展示されていました。 琥珀を触れたり、歩いたり出来るコーナーがありましたが、コロナ禍で触れず残念でした。 一番の目的は琥珀の採掘体験で、春から秋にかけて体験出来ます。 スタッフの方が色々気に掛けてくれて、アドバイスをくれたり親切でした。 1時間があっという間に過ぎ、夢中になり楽しめました。 体験後に小さい琥珀の御守を貰えます。

    Located about a 20-minute walk from the Sanriku Railway Rias Line’s Taro Station, the facility was damaged by the tsunami that is said to have exceeded 17 meters in height due to the Great East Japan Earthquake. The building, which was flooded up to the fourth floor, leaving only pillars up to the second floor but not collapsing, is preserved as a tsunami archaeological site to pass on to future generations so memories of the massive damage of not forgotten. You can participate in a guided tour to learn about disaster prevention that is held by the Miyako Tourism Cultural Exchange Association that allows visitors to visit the building and watch tsunami videos taken at the hotel on the day of the earthquake.

    A museum located a 90-minute drive from the Ichinoseki Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. The museum is modeled after early Meiji period Kesen homes and was built to pass on the techniques of Kesen carpentry to future generations. The museum was built exclusively with local materials like Kesen cedar wood. The main building is made of wood and modeled after a single story thatch roof family home. Looking up from beyond the irori sunken hearth, visitors can spot Kesen carpentry techniques everywhere, such as three stage beams. There's also a 3.11 Light of Hope eternally lit gas lamp on the grounds which was lit from the 1.17 Light of Hope in Kobe.

    This temple is located in Choanji, Hikoroichi-cho, Ofunato City. It is said that it was founded about 900 years ago by Jiromaru Tamemasa, the fourth-generation great-grandson of Kon no Tametoki, head of Kesen County. The temple was destroyed by fire once and rebuilt at the end of the 18th century. The temple gate was condemned by the Date clan for using zelkova, which was forbidden at that time, and because it permitted on the condition that construction was canceled, it is a special gate without doors or fences.

    The Kannon (goddess of mercy) statue holding a fish is 48.5 kilometers in height and stands as if watching over the boats coming and going from Kamaishi Bay. Building of the statue was initiated by Meihozan Sekiosenji Temple praying for peace of the spirit worlds. From the 12th floor inside the statue, 120 meters above sea level, you can see the panorama of Mada-misaki Cape, Ozaki Peninsula and the Pacific Ocean.

    A limestone cave discovered after the Ryusendo Cave–one of Japan's three major caves–in Iwaizumi-cho. In 1967, Ryusendo Cave was discovered during construction to widen a prefectural road. The well-developed cave system and its water course markings have scientific value, and in 1975 it was opened to the public as a science museum. In addition to the stalactites and stalagmites that are still being surveyed, there are abundant traces of pre-modern people. The cave has displays depicting life in the cave, which acted as shelter from the elements. There is also an area of water that looks beautiful when lit up.

    This tower is located approximately 35 minutes by train from JR Tohoku Shinkansen Ninohe Station, taking the Sanriku Railway Riasu Line. Situated in Kurosaki Park, one minute's walk from Kurosaki-Sou national youth hostel, it is a symbol of Fudai 40 degrees north latitude Global Village. It is a four-meter high globe-shaped monument, equipped with a sensor that detects when someone is standing in front of it. The globe turns automatically, welcoming visitors as it revolves. It is powered by solar energy, and it gives visitors a sense of the power of the distant seas and of the surrounding nature. The blue globe with the blue sea in the background is highly recommended as a spot for photography.

    This museum introduces the life and wisdom of the Kawai area of Miyako City, where the mountains bring rich blessings, there is little flat ground, and the winter is extremely cold. Mountain equipment from the Kitakami mountains are exhibited in the first exhibition room. In the second exhibition room, there is a reproduction of a Nambu Magariya farmhouse, and items from daily life in villages is stored and on display. The third exhibition room has a reproduction of the Ogawa Clinic's examination room dedicated to mountain area medical care, and introduces the achievements of the predecessors of community health care. Some of the exhibits are designated as national Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties.

    Located about a 130-minute drive from Morioka-minami Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway or a one-minute walk from the Okujodogahama bus stop, this monument built in front of the Jodogahama Rest House is one of many in the prefecture for Kenji Miyazawa, who was born in Hanamaki City. It was built in October 1996 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kenji Miyazawa's birth, and is inscribed with the tanka poem “Beautiful and beaming, briny velvet, sea tangles were spread all over the shore of the serene light,” which he composed in July 1917 when he visited Jodogahama with the east coast visiting group from Hanamaki-machi.

    Japan’s first marine science museum, it is located in Jodogahama Beach about four kilometers from JR Miyako Station. In addition to introducing the history of Iwate’s fishing grounds, traditional and modern fishing methods, and aquaculture techniques, sea life inhabiting the Sanriku area is shown in a giant diorama. There is a large aquarium in the “Osakana Corner” where you can see a variety of marine creatures such as fish found in the waters near Iwate and clown fish living on coral reefs. You can also experience being in the fishing industry by painting scallop shells and coring wakame seaweed, and canning to make time capsules (reservations required).

    "To reach this observatory, visitors should drive about 20 minutes from the Kunohe Interchange on the Hachinohe Expressway and follow the road inside the Ono Campus north for 1. 2 kilometers. Located on top of a peak with a clear view, Hirono Makiba Observatory was named ""the best place in Japan for viewing the stars"" in 2007. It is equipped with the largest telescope in northern Tohoku (51-centimeterdiameter reflecting telescope [IK-51NC]), as well as an H specialized solar observation telescope. It has a number of permanent and special exhibits, and visitors can view some of the finest selected astronomical photographs."

    Kosode Ama Center is in the city of Kuji, Iwate Prefecture. It is a base facility for Japan's northernmost ama (traditional female free divers). The first floor houses a tourist information center and a retail outlet. The second floor has an exhibit that presents information about the ama. Light meals and snacks are served on the third floor. The Ama Festival is held during the diving season of July to September, with demonstrations of free diving.
