- Tatehana Ganpeki Morning Market
- Travel / Tourism
- Aomori Pref. Hachinoheshi Shinminato Kanono quay
- Early every Sunday morning, Japan’s largest morning market springs up on the quay along the usually unoccupied Tatehana Fishing Harbor. Stretching 800 meters along the harbor, the market has not only exceptionally fresh seafood and vegetables but also shops selling ready-made food, restaurants, and variety shops, a total of 300 shops in all. About 10,000 people shop there each week, and during the O-Bon period and in holiday periods, it is so crowded that one can hardly walk. At times, people costumed as Ikadon, the unofficial local mascot of Tatehana Ganpeki Morning Market, wander among the crowd, handing out name cards and candy.

- Travel / Tourism
- Aomori Hachinohe-shi Iwaizumicho
- "Located an approximately 15-minute walk from JR Hachinohe Station, along one of the eight alleys that spread out from the center of Hachinohe, this place gets its name from the businesses lined up that resemble the reed of a harmonica. This old restaurant area has continued since late 1945, and the wooden arch with the name ""Harmonica Alley"" is a landmark in the area. Along the street, there are small restaurants, izakaya bars, and ethnic restaurants with a multinational mood and nostalgia from the 20th century that is popular with a wide clientele."

""Rensagai"" literally means ""chain street,"" and it is said the name is derived from the fact that the numerous restaurants here stood side by side like a chain next to a movie theater which once stood here. From Japanese izakaya pubs to bars, so-called ""snack"" bars, yakiniku Japanese-style grill-it-yourself barbecue restaurants, and ramen shops, the street is filled with an abundant variety of long-standing establishments."

Aomori Areas
Centuries-old stories of samurai at Kakunodate and the remains of millennia-old archaeological sites including the likes of Isedotai invite history buffs to delve into Aomori’s fascinating history. As the most northern prefecture on the Japanese mainland, Aomori enjoys a cooler climate, which makes it a welcome escape from the southern cities for combining castles, art galleries, and summer festivals with the great outdoors.
