Hosenji Temple

This Buddhist temple is counted as one of Japan’s three greatest Marici (Buddhist goddess of war) temples, alongside the Tokudaiji Temple in Tokyo and the Zenkyoan Temple, a sub-temple of the Kennin-ji Temple, in Kyoto. The temple enshrines a statue of Marici which was used as a protective charm by the samurai general Maeda Toshiie, the first lord of Kaga Domain. Standing at the midpoint of Mt. Mukaiyama in what would be the unlucky “kimon” northeast of Kanazawa Castle, the temple was built by Kaga Domain’s chief vassal Toda Shigemasa on the order of Maeda Toshinaga, the second lord of the domain. The grounds offer a sweeping view of the homes along the Asano River as well as the Higashi Chaya District. The five pine trees standing on the temple grounds served as material for a novel written by Kanazawa-born author Kyoka Izumi. The temple is also famous for its sunsets, and even Japanese literature researcher Donald Keen once praised the scenery visible from the site.

泥棒と間違えられた

素晴らしい眺めは望めます。お堂の扉が開いていたので、上がらせて頂きお経を読んでいると、どなたかが様子見に来られましたが、わざとらしい足音をたてながらそのまま母屋に戻られました。泥棒かどうかを見に来られたんでしょうね。何か他に対応なかったんでしょうか？
沢山の仏さまが参道に並んでいます。

かすかですが、金沢城も見えるほどの高台に有ります。真言宗の寺院で本尊は前田利家公の守本尊、また参道には多くの仏さまが並んでいます。

ひがし茶屋街の奥、角度が15度もあるという子来坂を上ったところにあるお寺だ。摩利支天山を名乗っている通り、本尊は摩利支天。境内から見渡すひがし茶屋街など金沢の街は素晴らしくきれいで、夜景はさぞかしと思わせる。驚くのは石仏の数だ。いくつあるかは不明だが、多種多様な仏様がいろんな表情で並んでいる。とても印象的な光景だ。
