Opened in 2000, this is one of Tokushima’s best known tourist attractions. Glass-floored sections have been installed at four locations along the Promenade, so that visitors can view the strong tides and roaring whirlpools in the sea below. The observation gallery at the far end of the Promenade makes use of the space provided by one of the Bridge girders to enable visitors to walk right round and get a 360-degree view; visitors can experience the impressive whirlpools from a spot 45 meters above the water.

- (Provided by service)Kotohira-gu Shrine is a Shinto shrine located halfway up Mt. Zozu (which is 521 meters high) in Kotohira Town; it is commonly known as Konpira-san. There are a number of legends concerning the origins of the shrine, all of which suggest a mixture of Shinto and Buddhist influences. Besides the principal kami (deity) of the shrine, O-mono-nushi-no-kami, the spirit of the Sutoku Emperor is also worshipped there. O-mono-nushi-no-mikoto is worshipped as the guardian deity of seafarers. Besides the Homotsu-kan (Treasure Hall) and the Omote Sho-in hall, there are many other fascinating things to see, including the Takahashi Yuichi Hall, where oil paintings by the renowned artist Takahashi Yuichi are on display.

The restaurant has been making delicious, old-fashioned, local-style udon noodles since it was established in 1927. The recipe for its thin noodles, unusual in the Sanuki region, has been handed down through the generations. The noodles have a slippery, perfectly springy texture and go perfectly with a broth which harnesses the innate flavor of dried sardines, kelp and Kagawa soy sauce. The restaurant’s udon, made with uncompromising ingredients, is so delicious, you can eat it every day without tiring of the flavor.

- (Provided by service)Designated as an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property of the country, the 45 meter long and two meter wide suspension bridge crosses the clear running waters of the Iya River at a height of 14 meters above the water’s surface. The bridge is made of hardy kiwi vines that grow wild in the cold mountains and are replaced once every three years. Various views exist as to why the bridge was originally built, one of which says that it was constructed by fugitives of the Taira clan who, in order to prevent attackers getting close, built it out of vines so they could quickly cut it down. Another probable story says that it was made by the saint, Kobo Daishi, who used to roam the valleys of Iya, in order to help stricken villagers.
