The specialty of this tourist rest stop is their strawberry daifuku, which feature rice cake stuffed with fresh strawberries picked that morning. It is popular for offering a wide variety of rare and exclusive souvenirs including dried fish from Numazu and wasabi from Izu Amagi. Its scenic self-service restaurant serves up views of Izu's scenery along with homemade udon noodles, kamameshi (a type of Japanese pilaf), and other items carefully crafted with local Izu ingredients.

This center for tourism in Amagi serves as the front door to the many scenic spots of Yugashima, including the Mountains of Amagi, the Kanogawa River, and the Jouren no taki Falls. The center features a souvenir corner, a restaurant, and more. Guests at the restaurant are treated to all the Amagi Yamamoto wasabi they can eat.

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
