- Tokyo Taitou-ku Uenokouen 7-7
- This art museum, located in Ueno Onshi Park in Tokyo's Taito Ward, preserves and displays Western art. Designed by French architect Le Corbusier, the museum building, which has been designated a World Heritage site, is a highlight in itself. The Matsukata Collection, which was assembled by businessman Kojiro Matsukata and donated and returned to Japan by the French government, forms the foundation of the museum's standing exhibition, which also includes paintings from the end of the Middle Ages to the early 20th century by artists like Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, as well as modern French sculptures. In addition, the museum holds special exhibitions several times a year.

- Tokyo Taitou-ku Uenokouen 8-36
- Located within Ueno Onshi Koen (Ueno Park) in Tokyo’s Taito City, this is Japan’s first national art museum and opened in 1926. With a goal of serving as an entrance to art for Tokyo’s citizens, it hosts numerous exhibitions throughout the year such as special exhibitions jointly sponsored with media outlets, competitions arranged through art organizations, and collection exhibits that primarily include works of calligraphy. The facility also includes a café where guests can enjoy beverages and light meals, a restaurant that takes pride in its authentic roast beef, and a museum shop.

The special exhibit was the well-known Gustave Klimt. Id seen quite a few of his works before but this was extensive and very educational about his history and philosophy. Not all of his...

This is a small museum at the Ueno park. It’s open on Mondays when the national museum is closed and that’s how we ended up there. During our visit, they had a thorough art exhibit about dinosaurs...

- Fumio Asakura was a sculptor from the Meiji period to the Showa period and was awarded the Order of Culture. Asakura's home and studio are open to the public. The well renowned estate has been named Former Fumio Asakura's Garden and has been registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property. The courtyard garden is a rich space with water, rocks and trees. The rooftop garden is also viewable when the weather permits.

I was more captivated by how beautiful this 3 stories house was designed. And how it was thoughtfully planned and layout to fit into the lifestyle of the artist. The courtyard garden was simple...

- Tokyo Bunkyou-ku Yayoi 2-4-2
- The Takehisa Yumeji Art Museum is located near the University of Tokyo's Yayoi Gate where founder Takumi Kano gathered over 3300 pieces of Yumeji's work. Japanese paintings, sketches and notes are among the collection. The museum really feels like the Taisho period when Yumeji lived. There is also the Minatoya cafe which was originally the Minatoya picture book store that Yumeji opened in Nihonbashi. Stop by for a break. New exhibitions besides the standard display are viewable every three months.

Yayoi is a fenomenal artist, but this museum doesn’t give her the credit she deserves. There are at the most fifteen pieces of art, all magnificent, but they are not representative of Yayoi’s vast...
Tokyo Areas
The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
