Aomori prefecture Higashi Tsujiku gun outside Rokuhama-cho Ryufukuzaki - Night stay
A scenic road extending from the Kodomari residential neighborhood in Nakadomari Town to Cape Tappi. Popular with driving-lovers from outside the prefecture, as well, the coastline portion of the road has few trees and is lined mostly with shrubs and grass, while the mountain portion of the road is full of slopes, valleys, spurs, and steep drops as well as bare stone and curiously shaped rock formations. The Chokandai Observatory along the road looks out over the Sea of Japan directly below. The road is designated National Route 339.

Centuries-old stories of samurai at Kakunodate and the remains of millennia-old archaeological sites including the likes of Isedotai invite history buffs to delve into Aomori’s fascinating history. As the most northern prefecture on the Japanese mainland, Aomori enjoys a cooler climate, which makes it a welcome escape from the southern cities for combining castles, art galleries, and summer festivals with the great outdoors.
