旭川市にあった、陸軍第七師団の偕行社の建物を利用した、彫刻美術館。建物は国の重要文化財に指定されている歴史的建築物です。入館料は300円で、隣にある井上靖記念館とのセット券は500円。2階に中川悌二郎の彫刻12点が並べられています。ロダンや佐藤忠良など著名な芸術家の彫刻が展示されています。建物の見学と併せて、芸術鑑賞ができます。

国道12号線沿いにあり、個人的にはサイクリング旅の途上で何度も立ち寄っている所ですが、ここは、旧向陽小学校舎を利用して、館内がギャラリーのように運用されています。高橋要さんという方が、「想像の大地」という壮大な作品が圧巻で、実はまだ製作中の作品ですが、製作開始は1999年で完成予定は何と2029年とのことで、30年をかけた一大作品のようです。何だか、ガウディのサグラダファミリアを深川で観ているよう...
