Ochanomizu Origami Kaikan
The Origami Kaikan was originally established in 1858 as a store for dyeing and manufacturing “chiyogami” papers, and is located in Bunkyo City’s Yushima. With the objective of promoting paper culture, it aims to convey Japanese culture and Japan’s beauty through the traditional handicraft of origami. In addition to exhibits on the history of paper culture and displays of works by origami artists around the world, visitors can purchase washi that has been dyed within the shop. The center also holds washi handicraft classes that teach participants to make small articles and accessories out of washi.
