- This temple that belongs to the Jodo sect is located in Shiba Park in Tokyo’s Minato City and is situated close to the base of Tokyo Tower. Zojoji Temple was founded by the monk Yuyo Shoso shonin in 1393 as an orthodox and fundamental nembutsu seminary for the Jodo sect. It used to be a large-scale temple with more than 120 buildings and more than 100 dormitories, and structures such as the Important Cultural Property Sangedatsumon (Three Gates of Liberation) that escaped damage from the war and the reconstructed main hall give an indication of the temple’s former glory. Tokyo Tower can be seen in the background behind the main hall, making this a popular photo spot. Inside the temple is the mausoleum of the Tokugawa family which contains six of the 15 Tokugawa shoguns.

- Tokyo Chiyoda-ku Nagatachou 2-10-5
- This shrine located in the Nagatacho district of Tokyo’s Chiyoda City is considered to have begun when Ota Dokan constructed the Edo Castle in 1478 and transferred the guardian deity of Kawagoe Hie Jinja Shrine. After that, it became the tutelary shrine of Edo Castle and the deity was revered as the guardian of the Imperial Palace. Since the current shaden (main building) has been reconstructed, there are 123 works of art on the ceiling of the haiden (worship hall) to commemorate the 50th anniversary since reconstruction. The Sanno torii gate built in the direction of Akasaka is also famous for its unusual shape. Every year in June the Sanno Festival is held which is one of the big three Edo festivals, and the approximately 300-meter long festival procession is quite a sight.

- Tokyo Minato-ku Akasaka 9-7-6 Tokyo Midtown/Garden
- Located in Tokyo Midtown, a multi-purpose complex directly connected to Roppongi Station, this museum holds exhibitions about design. Unlike traditional museums it was created to “think about daily articles from a design perspective, create objects and propose new ideas.” It is mainly host to organized exhibitions but also features talks and other events. The architecture of the building was designed by Tadao Ando and makes for a very unique exterior, such as with its roof made of one folded iron plate.
