Minoo Onsen
This hot spring district, designated as Meiji no mori Mino Quasi-national Park, is surrounded by natural beauty, and the skytop outdoor bath operated by the district's sole hotel offers a sweeping view of Osaka Plain. The hot spring waters here are some of the best in the Kansai region; a certified recuperative spring, it is also known as the Hot Spring of Life. This distinctive sodium bicarbonate chloride spring (formerly deemed a sodium chloride-containing sodium bicarbonate boric acid spring) is said to treat such ailments as neurasthenia, chronic women's diseases, nerve pain, and rheumatism, in addition to engendering beautiful skin. The city of Minoh is a renowned fall foliage destination, and in the autumn the foliage found in Meiji no mori Mino Quasi-national Park is particularly spectacular; Minoh Waterfall, located inside the park, has been selected as one of Japan's 100 most beautiful waterfalls. Tourism attractions such as Expo'70 Commemorative Park, the location of the famous Tower of the Sun art installation, are also located nearby, and the district makes an excellent place from which to base area sightseeing activities.
