"This long-established store that was opened in 1950 manufactures and sells Japanese confectionery in front of the University of Tokyo's Akamon (red gate). Operating out of the district of education that is Hongo, this store creates handmade cakes, biscuits, jo-namagashi and other Japanese confectionery, with a focus on local culture and the four seasons. The signature cake is their ""Akamon Mochi."" Made from bracken starch and Okinawan brown sugar, it's a fitting treat to represent the historical landmark that it was named for. The fragrant soy flour and the perfect sweetness of the brown sugar combine to create a distinctive flavor that will leave you hungry for more. The store also has an exclusive, limited-time seasonal product called the ""Kaga no Himuro (ice house)."" This name is also written on the curtain at the front of the shop, and is derived from an ancient custom where ice stored in ice houses in the Kaga domain would be presented to the Tokugawa shogunate as tribute. It is a standard treat to cool down when it is hot."

昨年は柏餅をいただきました。こし餡とつぶしあんがありました。今回は桜餅を頂きました。さくら葉の匂いと風見がよくあんもとても美味しくいただきました。5月の柏餅も期待しています。

お土産に「赤門もち」を買いにお店に入って、お店の方おすすめの「くり栗」を買った。甘みのついた一個の大きな栗がおいしかった。赤門もちは、わらび粉に黒糖が練りこまれていて、外側のきな粉をまぶしながら食べると軽い感じの味わいだった。
東大赤門前です。柏餅がとても美味しいです。

和菓子屋さんですがカステラや富山のお菓子やお煎餅もありました。柏餅をいただきました。こし餡とつぶしあんがありました。つぶしあんはよもぎもちでとても風見がよくあんもとても美味しくいただきました。
