Nakamura Kakinoha Sushi Honpo

This restaurant specializes in Kakinoha-sushi (persimmon leaf sushi), a regional dish of northern Wakayama Prefecture. It is located a five-minute walk from JR Kokawa Station or a 30-minute drive from the Sennan Interchange on the Hanwa Expressway along Prefectural Route 63. Each piece is carefully handmade one at a time without the use of preservatives or additives. Their classic kakinoha-sushi features mackerel on sushi rice made with a secret blend of vinegar wrapped up in a persimmon leaf. We also recommend their jako-sushi (dried young sardines sushi), a dish unique to this area. Another popular offering is their ayu-sushi (sweetfish sushi), which features a whole sweetfish served on sushi rice.
