- Opening in 2014, the Abenobashi Terminal Building has been given the title of the tallest building in Japan, so really there’s no better place to begin your whirlwind day than here on top of the city. In this multi-purpose building you’ll find retail outlets, galleries, restaurants, art galleries, and a hotel. Scale the building to the very top and you’ll find a large open observation deck offering breathtaking 360 degree views of the city below.

- Now time for a little historical strolling so be sure to make your way to Shitennoji Temple. Founded in 593 by Prince Shotoku, it’s said to be one of the oldest temples in Japan. Over its lifetime the temple has been burned down a number of times, but each time has been lovely recreated to resemble its former glory. The outer area is free to enter, but if you want to visit the inner precinct, there is an admission fee. The area is particularly stunning in the spring months when the grounds are covered it blossoming seasonal flowers.
