    It is a historical building that preserves the udatsu, an architectural style of the Edo period, and is designated as a National Registered Cultural Property. The udatsu was originally intended to prevent fire from spreading to the surrounding area in the event of a fire, but because of the enormous cost required to install udatsu, it came to be treated as a symbol of wealth.
