This drive-in is located 10 minutes from the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway’s Shokawa Interchange. It is closest to two large cherry trees, Shokawa-zakura, that are said to be more than 500 years old and are Gifu Prefecture-designated Natural Monuments. You can see all of Lake Miboro, and there is also an auto camping ground where you can enjoy experiencing nature while forest bathing at the lakeside. Eat dishes such as cold soba buckwheat noodles using soba flour from Shokawa, Hida’s local cuisine “hoba miso” (miso grilled on magnolia leaves), and their popular sukiyaki set menu, using Hida’s luxurious Hida beef. In addition to meals, they also offer drinks and souvenirs.

Tucked away in the very center of Japan, Gifu prefecture houses mountains, old towns, and one of Japan’s greatest hot springs, Gero Onsen. A tour of the prefecture’s traditional architecture will take you from the mountain-enveloped wooden streets of Takayama to the mountain village of Shirakawago, where visitors can explore 250-year-old thatched roofed houses known as gassho-zukuri.
