About Activity

Tanba ware is one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan. In a relaxed town with a traditional Japanese landscape, you will be directly taught by an active potter who has inherited traditional techniques. You can experience making authentic Tanba ware. It is a one-of-a-kind experience that will touch your heart. *The Six Ancient Kilns of Japan is a collective name for the six representative kilns (Echizen, Seto, Tokoname, Shigaraki, Tanba, and Bizen) that have continued to produce porcelain from the Middle Ages to the present day. They were named by Fujio Koyama, a researcher of ancient ceramics, around 1948, and were certified as ‘Japan Heritage‘ in 2017. (As an after-campaign for the Hyogo Destination Campaign, participants will receive a ‘small gift that can be used for travel‘! *) *We will mail it to you at a later date.
