Gion Kashiwazaki Festival
In 1950 Yasaka Shrine Gion Festival and Kashiwazaki commerce and industry festival combined into largest event of summer in Kashiwazaki. Dancers engulf onlookers as they perform folk dances through the streets; an extravaganza of energetic shouts can be heard from the float and portable shrines bearers; followed by one of the three largest fireworks displays in Niigata which is set off from the ocean. This enormous festival is always packed with crowds of people every year.
