Asuwa River
This river flows through the central part of Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, and the embankment between Kita Bridge and Shin-akari Bridge has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. The view of 600 Yoshino cherry trees in full bloom along both banks for 2.2 kilometers is truly astonishing. Many visitors come every year to enjoy this line of cherry trees said to be Japan’s finest. The best time for viewing is from early to mid-April. The Fukui Spring Festival is held during peak season, when the trees are also illuminated at night and the Echizen Historical Costume Parade is also performed. Toilets, shops and parking available.
