Katsuyama Park

Event
A park built around Kokura Castle in Kokurakita Ward, an area which once flourished as the convergence of numerous highways leading throughout Kyushu. Other ward highlights include Yasaka Shrine, which conducts the Kokura Gion Festival; a cenotaph dedicated to the atomic bombing of Nagasaki; the Kitakyushu Central Library; and the Kokurakita Ward Office. The best time to see fall foliage in the area is from mid-November, and the sight of the Japanese zelkovas in their autumn colors encircling Kokura Castle is stunning. The Riverwalk Kitakyushu shopping center located in the north of the grounds offers a sweeping view of the entire park.
