Kameyama Park
A park built on the site of a ruined castle located in the center of urban Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture. Opened in 1956, the Tamon-yagura turret in the park is the only castle structure still standing in the prefecture. The spacious, 13 hectare park is a popular destination to enjoy Japanese irises in early summer. The northern part of the park, once the location of a villa belonging to the lord of Kameyama Castle, is located on a hill, and visitors to this part can enjoy seeing fall colors peeking through still green plants. In most years, the best time to enjoy the fall foliage in the park is from mid-November to early December.
