Maruko Castle was built in the Oei Era (1394-1428) to defend the western entrance to Suruga Fuchu, and after the Takeda clan invaded Suruga, it was used as a base of operations in the western part of Suruga. The trail continues past the ruins of Maruko Castle to the temple of Seigan-ji, where visitors can enjoy an approximately one-hour hike.
