Hakone Kowaki-en Horai-en Garden
This park is located nearby the Horai-en Bus Stop, just a 19-minute ride on the Hakone Tozan Bus from Hakone-Yumoto Station. The garden, 20,000 tsubo in size (nearly 66,000 square meters), was opened at the beginning of the Taisho period by Enomoto Kyozo, founder of the Kowakudani Onsen Bath House. It started with the transplanting of azaleas from Tokyo's Okubo district and now from late April to mid-May nearly 30,000 flowers covering 40 varieties comes into bloom. The flowers including satsuki azaleas, rhododendron kiusianum, rhododendron kaempferi, and more and in the fall season you can enjoy the sight of the beautiful changing autumn colors.
