This longstanding tofu restaurant is located a 40-minute drive from Amami Airport. Looking as if it still exists in Japan's bygone Showa period, the popular establishment has a friendly atmosphere and bustles not only with locals but also many tourists. The shima tofu the restaurant uses is a variety of firm tofu made with Amami seawater bittern containing an abundance of minerals. One of the most popular choices on the menu is the Shimatofu-ya Teishoku set meal, which comes with tofu skin tempura; shiro-ae tofu, white sesame, and white miso salad; and sumashijiru clear soup.

島とうふ屋行ってきました。各種定食がありますがいずれも惣菜品数も多く食べきれないほどです。値段もリーズナブルだしぜひ立ち寄られることをお勧めします。内容については皆さんそれぞれ口コミされ、そのとうりの店です。レジ横でとうふドーナツを販売していますが、これはお土産に大変喜ばれました。

ＧＷ初日に空港からレンタカーで直行１３時位に着きましたが７組待ちで３〜４０分待ちました。ＧＷ限定デラックス定食１２００円を食べました。味付けはシンプルで美味しいし相当お買い得です。豆腐やおからとかの惣菜もテイクアウトで売っています。地方発送できる商品もあったので自宅と知り合いに送りました。
