Yakushima Botanical Research Park

This botanical garden is located in the Mugio District on southeastern Yakushima Island. Its vast grounds feature an herb garden, a tropical fruit orchard, a butterfly conservatory, and other facilities. It offers visitors a rare chance to view tropical fruits. The garden's observatory offers a commanding view of the coastal Toroki Falls and Mt. Mocchomu. There is also a shop that sells fresh-squeezed fruit juices made with domestic fruit including fruit harvested in the garden.
