This shop can be reached by taking a 10-minute ride on the Ohmi Railway bus bound for the Chomeiji from JR Omihachiman Station; get off at the Osugi stop and the shop is just a three-minute walk away. Situated in a part of the city which was once a castle town, the shop has been making and selling Omihachiman's famous aka kon'nyaku (red devil's tongue jelly) since it was founded in 1891. Aka kon'nyaku has a fine texture and is moderately soft, and it goes great in oden and other hotpot dishes and also as sashimi and in dengaku roasted dishes. The shop's popular Kon'nyaku Kakurenbo, an original product consisting of seasoned aka kon'nyaku which has been wrapped in cod fish paste and deep fried, makes a perfect side dish for any meal as well as a snack to enjoy with beer or a cup of sake.
