These castle ruins are in Hasedo, Yamagata City. The castle remains here were the scene of the Battle of Hasedo, when Naoe Kanetsugu lead the western Uesugi army into Dewa, but was turned back from this mountain stronghold, at the same time as the battle of Sekigahara in 1600. It is now designated as a park, and you can view the castle ruins and flowers throughout the year.

予想より整備された公園でした

最上氏の治める山形城の支城で、歴史的には関ケ原合戦の発端となった上杉討伐に関連して有名になった場所とのことでした。想像していたよりも広い範囲が公園として整備されており、駐車場も完備していました。その駐車場の隣には発掘された水堀の復元が展示されていました。

歴史好きにはたまらない場所の1つです。関ケ原の戦いの最中、西軍上杉軍（直江兼続率いる２万の大軍）が東軍方最上義光の山形を襲うため戦った場所です。城は最上軍が守備。ここが落城すれば本丸山形城までは一直線。激し戦いが行われました。城跡頂上から山形方面を見れば地形と城の重要性がわかります。駐車場からの山道は整備されていますが、足元はしっかりとしたスニカー等がお勧めです。白鷹町へ通ずる348号線沿いにあ...
