This literary museum’s building was modeled after the traditional Japanese homes found in the Kamo region, the home of Fukuyama City-born author Masuji Ibuse. The museum was opened in 1999 in order to honor the achievements of Ibuse and other writers connected to Fukuyama City. Exhibits concerning the achievements, profiles, and major works of the museum’s authors are displayed in the standing exhibition area on the first floor. Writings by the authors as well as collections of their complete works have been assembled in the museum’s library, which visitors may freely peruse. A video on Masuji Ibuse’s life as well as some of his personal articles are displayed in a space modeled after the author’s study, helping visitors to deepen their understanding of his achievements.

福山駅北側を県立博物館をすぎて歩くといくつかある展示施設の一つです。展示の中心は福山出身の井伏鱒二です。ここに来るまで井伏鱒二が福山と関係があることは知りませんでした。小学生の低学年の頃だったと思いますが、山椒魚を読んだのを突然思い出しました。
実質は井伏鱒二文学館

福山出身の作家を扱った文学館ですが、半分以上、井伏鱒二の展示物です。まぁ、島田荘司さんとかまだ新しいしな。
福山城の北側

護国神社の正面に当たる位置にある文学館です。第一展示室が福原林太郎はじめとする福山ゆかりの文学者、第二から第四展示室は福山市の名誉市民の作家井伏鱒二に関する展示、第五展示室は井伏鱒二の書斎を再現しています。時間があれば、井伏鱒二の生涯につての映像も楽しめます。
