Otaki Spring

The waters of this spring well up on the grounds of Otaki Shrine in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. Pouring from a trough carved from a log, the waters of the spring are pure and clear and were selected for inclusion in the Japanese Top 100 Famous Water list in 1985 as part of the springs of the plateau at the southern foot of Yatsugatake. Visitors may draw and drink the spring's waters. Around 12° C, the abundant waters of the spring have supported the lives of local residents since ancient times, and even today they are used to irrigate rice paddies and raise rainbow trout. The surrounding area is maintained as a park, and in the spring visitors can enjoy the area's fresh verdure, while in the fall visitors can take in beautiful autumn foliage.

駐車場は数台分のスペースあり。ご祭神はオオクニヌシとスクナヒコ。出雲の神に相応しく千木も縦削ぎ。社殿の裏に磐座があり、綺麗な湧き水もある。拝殿の扉には近所で生まれた子の名前が貼ってあり、この湧き水が命の水であると連想される。猛暑日だったが、境内は涼しくベンチで一休み。途中、母子が湧き水を汲みに来ていた。聖地であると共に、とてもほっこりする感じの場所でした。当初はミシャグジ関係の神供石...

小淵沢駅から車で5分位の場所です。周辺道路は狭く、運転には注意が必要です。また、近くに釣り堀があり、その駐車場が分かりやすい場所にあるのですが、「湧き水の駐車場ではありません」等々の看板が設置されていたので、駐車にも注意が必要です。結局、湧き水汲み用の駐車場は分からず、他には人がいなかったため、道の幅が広くなった所に車を止めさせてもらいました。神社左手の山葵田の奥に、ここで汲めば良いのかな？と...
