Kagamikawa Shishu no Sato

Museum / Science Museum
A museum facility dedicated to traditional Kaga Mikawa shishu embroidery. Originating as a type of manual piecework done at home to support family finances, Kaga shishu embroidery was popular from the early Meiji period through the Showa period. The interior of the museum is decorated with a variety of examples, from spectacular pieces crafted in the Meiji period to modern works created using the latest computer technology. In addition, there is an embroidery studio in the museum where you can order small pieces of embroidery work such as having your initials embroidered on a handkerchief. The museum also holds embroidery activities.
