Enshrined in this shrine in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture is a god of water, Mizuhaname-no-kami, a god of earth, Haniyasubime-no-kami, and a goddess of fire, Amaterasu-omikami, who are believed to be protective deities for women and children. In mid-October they hold the annual Shimada Obi Festival, one of Japan's Three Strange Festivals, and it concludes with a Lord's Procession on the final day.

七五三で賑わっていました

大井川に面する島田市中にある、想像以上に立派な神社でした。１１月初旬でしたので七五三詣りで境内は混雑。地域の信仰を集めていることが分かります。時間ごとに呼び出しの放送が響いていました。御神池が美しく、大奴と三番叟のブロンズ像や宮美殿への燈篭も眼を惹きます。御朱印は拝殿右の社務所でいただけます。
3年に一度の島田大祭「帯祭り」が有名

他の方が神社の由緒は書かれている様なので、その他の部分ではまず「帯祭り」に関してですが、よくありがちな「日本三大〇〇」と云った呼び方ですが、帯祭りは「日本三奇祭」の一つと云われています。ただ、これもありがちですが諸説あり、5-７つ位の祭りが候補になっていたりします。「帯祭り」は簡単に云ってしまうと、嫁入りした新婦は祀っている御祀神が三柱（神様はこう数えます）とも女神であることから安産・子育ての神...
