Fukagawa Shrine

Shrine
A Shinto shrine located in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture notable for its tunnel-like round burial mound. The shrine's komainu ceramic lion-dog guardian statues were made in the Kamakura period; the oldest such ceramic komainu in Japan, they have been designated Important Cultural Properties. The shrine holds the Toso Matsuri each year in April to celebrate Kato Shirozaemon Kagemasa, the forefather of Seto pottery.
