Yamanakako Panoramic Observatory (山中湖パノラマ台)

Observatory / Outlook

This observation dock is located along between Lake Yamanaka and Mikuni Pass along Prefectural Route 730. During the day, visitors can enjoy views of Lake Yamanaka and Mt. Fuji, and on clear days you can even see as far as the Southern Japan Alps. During the sunset, the sky and the lake are tinted red by the setting sun, creating a truly mystical sight. The ocean of silver grass that grows in the surrounding area treats visitors to especially beautiful sights in the fall.

Yamanashi prefecture is the proud home of one of Japan's most celebrated icons: Mount Fuji. Although the mountain straddles both Yamanashi and Shizuoka, the most breathtaking views of Fuji-san can be seen from the Fuji Five Lakes north of the mountain in Yamanashi prefecture. The plethora of outdoor activities in and around the lakes all have the benefit of the country's highest mountain as their backdrop, and we can assure you that it is an unforgettable sight.
