Senami Sasagawa-Nagare Awashima Prefectural Nature Park
This nature park is in the center of Sasagawanagare. The coastline looks out at the Sea of Japan and stretches almost 80 kilometers from Senami Hotsprings in Murakami City to the edge of Yamagata, including Awashima Island. It's characterized by its dynamic coastline as created by the rough crashing waves. Sasagawanagare has also been designated as one of the country's national natural treasures, famous for a series of giant oddly shaped boulders scattered along the coastline. Along the Senami coastline you'll find lots of recreation areas for tourists including hot spring baths, beaches, and campgrounds. Also, Awashima Island, which floats almost 20 kilometers off shore of Sasagawanagare, is home to the streaked shearwater and is famous as a fishing location for sea bream.
