This shrine is in Oga City, Akita Prefecture. It is dedicated to the divinities Ninigi-no-Mikoto and Takemikazuchi-no-Mikoto. It is famous for the New Year's Sedo Matsuri and February Namahage Sedo Matsuri festivals, both of which attract numerous visitors in-season. The Oga Shinzan Folklore Museum, where you can try on a Namahage suit, is nearby.

「なまはげ」ゆかりの地として、毎年2月に「なまはげ柴灯まつり」が行われることで知られる真山神社の参道、岩の階段を5~6分上がっていくと、その五社殿はありました。訪れたのが、真冬のみぞれが降る夕方だったこともあり、人影もなく静かで、神聖な気持ちで参拝できました。
