Akita Marugoto Market (秋田まるごと市場)

Akita Marugoto Market offers a complete lineup of Akita flavor, with famous sweets, local specialties, fresh foods and more. The five restaurants using select local ingredients are not to be missed! The sushi shop Ichiba no Sushiya-san, with their Akita grown Sasanishiki rice and toppings straight form the market is particularly popular. There is also a liquor store, Sake no Eiyu, offering local Akita sakes by the bottle and sold by volume.

Review of Akita Marugoto Market

Famed for its sake and samurai, Akita prefecture offers quintessential Japanese culture in a non-touristy setting. Alongside the celebrated rice paddies and historical sites of the region lies dramatic natural scenery in the form of the rugged coastline of the Oga Peninsula and the Dakigaeri Gorge, best visited in autumn, when the leaves begin to change color.
