Mt. Tanigawa
At 1977 meters in elevation, this mountain is one of Japan’s Top 100 Mountains, located on the border between Gunma and Niigata prefectures. The peak splits into two peaks—called “Toma no Mimi” and “Oki no Mimi” —with great climbing courses for both beginner and advanced climbers. Known for steep, rocky areas and harsh weather changes, there are ropeway and lift options to help. The mountain ridge is home to a wealth of alpine plants, and the overlapping mountain lines and diverse natural colors provide you with a fantastic view.
